Josh Brolin Slams Academy via Oscar Snub, Jokes He’s ‘Giving Up Acting’
Josh Brolin He joked about quitting acting while criticizing the academy for courting “DUNE: DIO DIO” director DENIS VILLENEUVE.
Brolin, who starred in “Dune” and “Dune: Part Two”, he previously threatened to quit acting if Villeneuve’s work in the sequel was not recognized.
“I just want to say congratulations on the nomination for best picture, Greig Fraser for cinematography, for best visual effects, for Patrice [Vermett] On production design and sound,” Brolin said in a video shared on his Instagram story. Obviously I’m going to leave acting because Denis Villeneuve wasn’t nominated. “
“This is how it works,” he added. “That doesn’t make sense to me. That’s fine. [Editor] Joe Walker and Denis, you deserve it. It’s an amazing movie. It was even better than the first one. The people who praised themselves certainly deserve it. Happy to be a part of it. Congratulations to everyone. “

Brolin praised the “Dune” sequel as a “better movie” than the first, as he threatened to leave the industry in November.
“If he doesn’t get nominated this year, I’ll quit acting,” Brolin said diversity. “It was a better film than the first one. When I watched it, it felt like my brain was opened. It’s in the master class, and Denis is one of our master filmmakers. If the Academy Awards have any meaning, they will be recognized, they will recognize him.”

Villeneuve wasn’t the only industry star to be snubbed. Actresses like Selena Gomez, Nicole KidmanAngelina Jolie and more have noticeably moved on for their parts in their individual films.
While French director Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez” received a total of 13 nominations, Selena Gomez, who plays Jessi Del Monte, the cartel leader’s wife who undergoes gender-affirming surgery, did not score a single nomination.
Angelina Jolie, who portrays opera legend Maria Callas in the film, underwent months of Italian lessons and rigorous vocal training to perform some of Callas’ greatest hits, according to W Magazine. However, she did not receive a nomination for Best Actress.

Meanwhile, Demi Moore earned her first Oscar nomination For “substance”. She is up for Best Actress along with Cynthia Erivo for “Wicked,” Mikey Madison for “Anora,” Karla Sofia Gascon for “Emilia Perez,” and Fernanda Torres for “I’m Still Here.”
“Being nominated for an Academy Award is an incredible honor and these past few months have been beyond my wildest dreams,” Moore said in a statement.
“Truly, there are no words to fully express my joy and overwhelming gratitude for this recognition. Not only for me, but for what this film represents. I am deeply humbled.”
