Fireman Los Angeles Fireman Kristin Crowley, two years ago, warned the members of the Committee in writing that her department should create two teams with full staff dedicated to cleaning of shrubs and maintenance fire lines to strengthen the team he had half -time, which consisted mainly of young volunteers.

But despite her petitions for financing, the City Council approved only a part of this and the employment stopped, caught in bureaucracy bureaucracy, according to a new report.

While some residents sued the Government for allegedly wrong steps that played a role in spreading devastating forest fires this month, residents do not have much output except the election of a new city leadership, according to a local lawyer whose clients owned houses seeking help after the fire by their communities.

“It’s a political disaster and can result in a bass recall,” said Mayor Los Angeles Karen Bass Neama Rahmani, a Los Angeles lawyer who represents more local clients in lawsuits after destruction. “But there is nothing that can be done legal.”

Despite the missed warning, city leaders are probably immune to civic litigation under state laws that protect power from responsibility, Rahmani said.

“State subjects have broad immunity to the Government Code and cannot be sued for failure to prevent fire,” he told Fox News Digital. “Laws against the city and DWP will be rejected.”

The chief letter, written in January 2023, was first reported by the Washington Post.

“One significant area of weakness in our arsenal is a regularly filled crew in the wild,” Crowley wrote Los Angeles Fire commissioners, looking for a full -time professional staff. The city relied on the mutual assistance of the state and district, which had a lack of staff, and a voluntary “cadet crew” that consisted mainly from teenagers and young adults led by active firefighters.

“The manual crew in the wild is the main resource in providing a strong and safe fiery line,” she added. “Without this resource that methodically creates and supports [a] fire line on a forest fire, the weakness of the line can mean [difference] in the restraint or beyond the control of the spread. ”

Crowley also warned that increased construction in areas exposed to fires is one of the factors that “dramatically increased” the danger of fire in Los Angeles in recent decades, along with the winds of Santa Ana and climate change.

Cadet Crew met twice a week with between 10 and 26 people, working on working intense projects such as shrub cleaning. The program is designed to train future firefighters, and as a result, he suffered a high fluctuation because members were employed in the ward and moved to other units, Crowley wrote.

“LAFD will need to increase the number of staff to meet the requirements of a new normal, one year fire season and a rapid reduction in the availability of mutual assistance/car assistance throughout the country,” she wrote.

She invited the Committee to establish two new manual teams, with several firefighters and dozens of paid assistance in suppressing fires that would cover the city seven days a week. She asked for $ 7 million to do so, with almost $ 4 million for salaries, and the rest for the fleet of vehicles that would be transferred to the first lines by uneven ground.

Although part of the money has been approved and employment is ongoing, the teams are reportedly not operational yet.

While city officials may be safe from legal consequences, separate lawsuits against insurance companies and those who may have been responsible for burning forest fires remain on the table, Rahmani said.

“The only real sustainable case is against Edison,” he told Fox News Digital.

Southern California Edison, a utility company, faces a problem several lawsuits stating that his equipment helped the fire outlet in Eaton, which fried the northern parts of Los Angeles district, including Altaden. Rachmani’s company is involved in a litigation against a utility company, and also represents victims with insurance claims and seeks assistance from the Government Program of Pro Bono, he said.

The Palisades fire, which has engulfed the Pacific Palisades community, is described as the most devastating forest fire in Los Angeles history.
