The infamous Conman, who spent four years in the British prison, was now sentenced to six years in France for inserting his car into two police officers, trying to avoid examination.
Robert Hendy Fregard, 53, moved to the rural area of Central France to illegally grow Beagle several years ago under a false name.
Neighbors were already suspicious of him before the two documentaries Netflix pointed out his activities as Conman.
Hendy Fregard represented as a spy MI5 for women and students of one million pounds, but was released after four years when some of his conviction was canceled in the appeal.
Representation of himself in a court in Gueret, he said he was not aggressive, but that he was worried ill.
“I had enough. I panicked,” he told the court, apologizing for two gendarmes he entered into the small Vidaillat village west of Clermont-Ferrand.
“I didn’t stop because I’m a human being with emotions.”
Prosecutor Alexandra Pethieu said the rural area is not a war zone: “And that day ended the confusing scene worth Mad Max.”
One officer was demolished and the other was thrown on the windshield several meters.
Hendy Freegard, who told the court that his real name was David Hendy, was released for several years in the UK appeal early after his charges of abduction were abolished.
Witnesses at his 2005 UK trial described that they had been exposed to the poverty for years because of the power he had over them. Forced or control behavior eventually became a criminal offense in 2015 in England and Wales.
Hendy Fregard was released from prison in 2009, and in 2015 moved to France to begin the job of breeding dogs Beagle with partner Sandra Clifton.
However, neighbors began to suspect that Clifton was under his control.
When the initial documentary film came out in 2022, the Marionette Master: The Ultimate Conman hunt, they contacted her children who used the program to complain to help finding.
Clifton’s son traveled to the village, and Beagles removed the local charity organization when Hendy Fregard arrived. While the two gendarmes were settled by a former conflict, who drove away, hitting the officers and fled to Belgium.
He was later extradited and spent more than two years in custody before heading for a trial for crossing two officers.
Hendy Fregard denied that his partner was under his forced control, saying his neighbors had a problem with him because of a documentary.
However, Martine Laporte, Mayor of Vidaillat, said that what came out of the trial was “manipulative to the end and that it would not change.”
“He really has to stop him because if he comes out, he’ll start again and it’s worrying,” they quoted her by French media.
