Cricket South Africa announces 2025 Champions Trophy squad; Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi return
Cricket South Africa (CSA)on Monday, they announced their male lineup for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Return of Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi
Fast bowling duo Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi have returned to the national team for the main tournament after recovering from injuries. Nortje was sidelined with a broken toe, while Ngidi missed the domestic season with a groin injury.
A team of 15 people, headed by Temba Bavumafeatures the ten players who represented South Africa in the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. Newcomers Ryan Rickelton, Wiaan Mulder and Tony de Zorzi are gearing up for their debut at an ICC event.
South Africa’s 2025 Champions Trophy Status
South Africa, placed in Group B, begin their campaign against Afghanistan in Karachi on February 21, followed by matches against Australia in Rawalpindi on February 25 and England on March 1. The first two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The tournament, scheduled to be played in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19, marks the return of the Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus. Defending champions Pakistan last won the trophy in 2017 by defeating India in the final at The Oval in London.
