“You actually mess up a lot of things” – moeen but

While he spoke during the “Beard before the Cricket”, Moeen, but supported the decision of BCCI to ban Harry Brook -ui, he did not agree to call him a sharp decision. He realized the implications of the earlier rule where players would withdraw at the last minute, resulting in teams facing many problems.

“It’s not sharp. I agree, in some way, because many people do it. They did it in the past, and then they come back and eventually get a better financial package, or whatever that is. And he somehow messed up a lot of things at the same time,” Moeen said.

“I mean, he obviously messed up his draw. Every team that loses Harry Brook has messed up a little and now everything and such things will divert,” he added.

Moeen Ali supports the decision to ban Harry Brook

Former England Allrounder claims that the rule was already established and BCCI is right in banning players. He feels that a sudden exit such a top player messes with a lot of things for the franchise.

“Forget it for a second, but if you retreat, the rule is to get a ban, unless it is for family reasons or … because of an injury or the like. If it’s an injury or something, it’s different. But I think if you just retire, then it’s … somehow I agree with the teams,” Moeen said.

“You actually mess up a lot of things. He is (Harry Brook) a top player. They probably chose the team around them, and then suddenly, you get out,” the former England Sketch added.

Adil Rashid Backs BCCI Decision

Adil Rashid, who was also in the same podcast, agreed with Moeen Ali, and believed that the players knew about this rule when going to auction. Therefore, he did not agree that the decision called sharp.

“They put that rule on their rule before, and then it happened. So, you know when you enter, this is the rule. So, when you put your name, you know if you get out, it will happen. So you know the consequences of it. So, I think it’s not sharp,” Rashid said.

“No, but if you withdraw and have, as you say, an injury or anything, then I think something like a rule can be distinguished or changing that way,” he noticed.

Harry Brook was signed by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 Crore at IPL 2025 auction. However, he decided to get out of the season, mainly due to the pressure of the work load after Jos Buttler’s resignation as the English white ball captain.

Since he was Vice President of the team, Brook spoke of a white ball capture in England by General Director of Robo Key. He is a leader who will guide the team in a white ball format, although the decision has yet to be published.
