Spurs target £30m + Udogie upgrade with ‘no-money engine’

This was not a good campaign Tottenham Hotspur so far this season.

Ange Postecoglou The Lilywhites may have scored the second highest number of goals in the Premier League this year, but they are currently finding they dropped to 11th place and bear their worst form in the competition since 2008.

While there are issues all over the pitch for the North Londoners, the defense is undoubtedly the biggest problem, with a significant reason for this being the number of defenders who have been injured.

One of those who is now ruled out for the upcoming game against Newcastle United is The fate of Udogiaand while he was brilliant last season, recent reports have linked Spurs with a rising full-back who could be his replacement.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to to a recent GIVEMESPORT reportTottenham have retained their interest in Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.

However, the bad news is that a number of other clubs, such as AC Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, Liverpool and Manchester United, are now starting to circle the young Dane, which in turn has seen the 20-year-old’s initial £30m increase in valuation.

That’s a problem as, according to the report, Daniel Levy could limit Postecoglou to a £25m spending spree, although given Udogie’s recent injury, there’s always the possibility that the budget could increase.

All in all, signing Dorgu could be a complicated and expensive transfer, but given his abilities and Spurs’ needs, he is worth pursuing, even if it would be bad news for Udogie’s long-term future.

How does Dorgu compare to Udogie

So if Spurs can increase their transfer budget, lead the chase and secure Dorgu’s services this month, he would almost certainly come in and start immediately for the injured Udogie.

But what will happen when the Italian defender returns from injury? Who would be Lilywhits starting left back?

Well, the way to solve that is to compare them against each other and see who is better, starting with something that is becoming increasingly important for the modern quarterback: their raw power.

In this sense, the man from Lecce is far ahead, with three goals in 19 games former Udinese the ace has one assist in 23 gamesalthough the 20-year-old has played all over the pitch this season, which will help him.

So what about their core numbers? Who’s the best when we look at what’s going on under the hood?

Well, unfortunately for the Verona-born Dinamo, it’s once again his potential replacement who emerges victorious, and by quite a margin.

For example, an exciting prospect, whose sporting director is Lecce Pantaleo Corvino described it as having “an engine unmatched by anyone else,” comes out on top in almost every metric, including but not limited to expected non-penalty goals plus assists, progressive carries, tackles, scoring and shooting actions, passes and crosses into the box, clearances, blocked shots and aerial duels won, all 90.

Ultimately, while Udogie is a very talented footballer, it is obvious that Dorgu would be the perfect upgrade for Postecoglou’s full-throttle system.

So even though it would cost a pretty penny, Levy and Co must do what they can to get it to N17 this month.
