In his first address after Congress confirmed the election, Trump rebelled against the existing ‘law’

President-elect Donald Trump railed against the ongoing “law” against him in his first public statements since Congress confirmed his decisive election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“They’ve been playing the courts, as you know, they’ve been playing the courts for four years. They probably got me more votes because I got the most votes that a Republican has ever gotten, actually, since I, you know, we had a great election, so I guess they didn’t make it, but even today, they’re playing with the courts and they’re friendly judges who like to make everybody happy .. It’s called law, it’s called a weapon of justice,” Trump said during the conference on Tuesday for journalists in Mar-a-Lago.

Trump held a news conference, his first since Congress confirmed his election victory on Monday, where he announced that DAMAC Properties would invest $20 billion in new data centers across the country. DAMAC owner Hussain Sajwani said the investment aims to facilitate the development of AI and cloud-based technologies.

Trump took aim on the legal battles he has faced over the past four years during the address, sharply criticizing special prosecutor Jack Smith as well as New York judge Juan Merchan.

“I call it the Department of Injustice. What they did was so bad, the whole world was watching it. And, it took work, but it got me a lot of votes, because when you explain it, we have a judge in New York who is a very corrupt judge ” he said, referring to Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over New York v. Trump. “I’m under a ban. I can’t even talk about the aspects of the case that are the most important aspects I’ll be dealing with. You know I’m the president-elect of the United States of America. I’m a former very successful president.”

Merchan announced earlier this month that he would convict Trump in New York v. Trump on Jan. 10, ahead of his Jan. 20 inauguration as president. Trump’s legal team filed a motion to delay sentencing, which Merchan denied Monday afternoon.

TRUMP FILED REQUEST TO STAY ‘ILLEGAL CONVICTION’ IN NEW YORK CASE

“Today, President Trump’s legal team moved to end the illegal sentence in the Manhattan prosecutors’ witch hunt. “The American people elected President Trump with an overwhelming mandate that demands an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and all remaining witch hunts. We look forward to uniting our country under the new administration as President Trump makes America great again,” Cheung continued.

Trump has been found I am guilty of 34 counts of forgery business records in the Manhattan case in May. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office worked to prove Trump falsified business records to cover up a $130,000 payment to former porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to silence her claims about an alleged affair with Trump in 2006. Trump maintains his innocence in file.

NEW YORK JUDGE DETERMINES TRUMP’S SENTENCE DAYS BEFORE INAUGURATION

Smith, who led the investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents after his first term in the White House, is scheduled to release a final report on the investigation. Two of Trump’s former co-defendants in the classified documents case, Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, filed an emergency motion Monday in an attempt to block the release of the report.

“These defendants will suffer irreparable harm as civilian victims of the Government’s impermissible and impermissible use of political law involving the release of an unauthorized report,” lawyers for Nauta and De Oliveira wrote in an emergency motion filed Monday. “The final report relies on materials that Smith, as a disqualified special prosecutor, no longer has access to — making his attempt to share such materials with the public highly inappropriate.”

The judge presiding over the case blocked Smith’s efforts to release the report on Tuesday.

Trump called Smith “crazy” during his speech on Tuesday as he led a victory lap that saw lawsuits brought against him since the 2020 election collapse after the 2024 election. Trump has maintained his innocence in various state and federal cases that have been brought against him, claiming they were examples of “law enforcement” intended to hinder his campaign to retake the White House.

“I beat deranged Jack Smith. He’s a deranged person. I suppose he’s on his way back to The Hague. And we got those cases. They were the biggest ones. And the press made a big deal out of them. But they didn’t do us any harm. And the people they saw it, you know vote for when you left Republicans,” he said.
