HOUSTON – New photos captured by Fox News Digital provide an inside look The Bourbon Street Killer Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s house in Houston, Texas.

Photos of the interior of Jabbar’s mobile home in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood in north Houston revealed multiple copies of the Koran, books on Christianity and books on teaching children about Islam.

Jabbar, 42, crashed his white truck into a crowd full of New Year’s revelers in New Orleans on Wednesday around 3:15 am. He then began shooting at law enforcement officers, who returned fire, killing Jabbar on the spot. Neighbors from the first house described Jabbar to Fox News Digital as a quiet, respectful neighbor who was devoted to his Islamic faith. A bookshelf near the front door seems to support his religious devotion, containing several copies of the Koran and books on Islam, as well as one on Christianity.

On the opposite side of the house, Jabbar had a raised desk with a computer and a can of pepper spray on it, along with a few other things. A green military-style backpack was also lying near the kitchen.

Jabbar was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, and lived in a rented mobile home in Houston. The house is in a neighborhood between several other mobile homes and caravans, only about seven minutes’ walk from Masjid Bilal Mosque and Darul Arqam Islamic School.

Much of the neighborhood is in extremely poor condition with dilapidated houses, parts of the road torn up, and litter and stray animals all over the street. There were a few ducks and chickens roaming around in Jabbar’s yard, and a few goats were in another yard nearby.

A neighbor from the first house, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Fox News Digital that he saw Jabbar loading a white pickup truck on Dec. 31 outside his Houston home, the morning before the New Orleans attack, where he crashed into the truck. in New Year’s festivities. He said he spoke with Jabbar, who told him he got the job and was moving to Louisiana. The neighbor said he was under the impression that Jabbar had landed another job in information technology.

“The morning he was moving, I asked him if he needed help moving out, as a neighbor, ‘Do you need help moving?’ He said, ‘I’m fine,'” the neighbor told Fox News Digital.

A neighbor expressed disbelief when he learned that Jabbar had been charged with the Bourbon Street bloodbath.

“Understand me, I was shocked, someone grabbed the rug from under my feet, I was like too shocked, unbelievable. ‘This really happened?'” the man said. “Like I said, we still don’t believe, we still don’t believe it’s that person, there’s just no way, it can’t be.”
