Mohamed Salah explains why the Premier League title race is ‘different’ after Leicester’s record-breaking win

Mohamed Salah admitted there is a different feel to this season’s Premier League title race after the Reds moved seven points clear at the top of the table.

Liverpool beat Leicester City 3-1 on Thursday to further increase their lead at the top after the runner-up Chelsea surprised Fulham. Arne Slot’s team also played a game less than their rivals.

Salah scored Liverpoolthird goal late. It was the third time in his Liverpool career that he has scored or assisted in ten consecutive games – a feat no other Premier League player has managed more than once.

The goal was also Salah’s 100th home goal of his Premier League career. Having won two at Stamford Bridge during his time at Chelsea, the Egyptian now sits on 98 at Anfield and awaits to break the century at the home of the Reds. Only seven other players have ever hit 100 home runs in league history.

“The most important thing is that the team wins – hopefully we win the Premier League,” he said Amazon Prime after the game. “It’s great, but we are focused on every game and we hope to continue like that.

“[This year] it’s a different feeling, but the most important thing is that we must remain humble. This one is very special, we hope to win the Premier League and for this club it’s something I dream about.”

Whether it will be Salah’s last season at Liverpool remains to be seen. The 32-year-old is approaching the final six months of his contract and he recently admitted that he had no news when asked about his future.
