Worcester, Massachusetts leaders vote to become a city of shrine for a transgender community
The Worcester City Council in Massachusetts voted to resolution to become a shrine For those transgender and gender diversas on Tuesday.
During the long -term meeting of the City Council, approximately 200 people from the LGBT+ community arrived to show their support to resolution – often expressing concern for their safety under the new Trump administration.
One speaker, who pulls on a purple wig, a pearl necklace and white gloves, said she needs the city to protect her because the federal government will not, and she is “afraid of Trump.”

The speaker, who also claimed that he had many disabilities, addressed the fear that the city would become a target of administration and lose federal funding if the measure was adopted and then issued a warning.
“If you say you are afraid of Trump and therefore you do not want the city to be a safe space for trance people, you better prepare for Trans People to become a very insecure space,” she said.
“I’m shaking right now. I don’t want to be here,” another speaker shouted into the microphone before they asked me to finish.
“I’m sorry, I advocate too long for my life?” The speaker shot back.
An individual, addressing those sitting in the City Council, also asked how much “my friends should die” before they do something, and then shout: “Look at me … f — Ing. Pathetic.”
The other sought to know, “How much life has to be lost before considering returning against fascism and corruption?”

A woman with purple hair spoke about having two trance children, while the other woman at a Council meeting asked for city leaders to imagine that they were in a same -sex marriage as she was afraid that their marital rights could be “seized at any time ‘
“You have an incredible opportunity as a community to support our children, you have the opportunity to reduce depression and suicide rates showing our children that their safety and dignity are a priority,” said another participant in the meeting.
The resolution for the protection of transgender and gender sigzing people came a month after Worcester was a large extent to the City Councilor Your nguyen, The first open -minded member of the Council took Hiatus, claiming that the environment was transfobic.
The local organization, “Queer residents of Worcester and our allies,” later submitted a petition asking the councilor to protect the minority community.

The City Council approved a resolution by voting 9-2 after the meeting at 5 o’clock, according to WCVBwho also reported: “The measure repeated the dedication to the city with transgender rights and equal protection. It also recognizes the importance of a genus that confirms health care.”
