John Cena Sr. Comments Cena Could Win 17th World Title (Exclusive)
John Cena he wants to win his 17th WWE World Title, but he doesn’t want to take a shortcut to the title picture. The Cenacion leader will have to go through 29 superstars if he wants to earn a shot at the biggest prize in the business.
Speaking of the recent release What were they thinking? on Stage passJohn Cena Sr. shared his thoughts on a potential world title shot for his son, noting that he made a bet with his partner.
“Well, we’ll see what happens. I make a bet with Moniece, my girlfriend. We were watching the throwback on Netflix, when he first came back, and he talked a little bit about the ring — which is so old Cena turns. You know, ‘Chances to win that seventeen-time heavyweight championship, maybe I’ll get an Oscar before that (imitates Cena).’ And I’ll be like, ‘Oh, there it is.'”
He went on to put in $500 during a Cena Jr promotion;
“And then he said, ‘Oh, but I never give up. I never give up. That’s why I’m putting myself in the Royal Rumble.’ So she immediately said, ‘he’s going to be a 17-time heavyweight champion.’ I said, ‘I’ll put $500 here, let’s see what happens.’ She said, ‘Are you betting for or against?’ I said, ‘When that happens, we’ll open the envelope and see if I’m right.’ [From 11:20 onwards]
John Cena hasn’t won a world title since 2017 when he won AJ styles win his 16th WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. Fans will have to wait to see if Cena can break Ric Flair’s record for most title wins.
