Pakistan unveils its security plan
Decades later, Pakistan is all set to host an ICC event, namely the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which begins on February 19 in Karachi with Indiamatches held in Dubai, UAE. Although the stadiums are not ready yet, strong security arrangements are being made in Pakistan.
In a major security operation, Pakistan’s Punjab Police has deployed more than 12,664 policemen to ensure the safety and security of players and fans in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

In addition to 7,618 policemen deployed in Lahore, 4,535 police personnel will look after security in Rawalpindi. Additionally, 411 officers from the Special Branch will provide additional support to enhance security operations for the upcoming eight-nation tournament.
It also said that aerial surveillance will be carried out with the support of the Pakistan Army and Rangers to increase surveillance during the tournament. Even the routes to the venue will be closely monitored using Safe City cameras, providing real-time surveillance to prevent any incidents.

5000 policemen deployed in Karachi alone for Champions Trophy 2025.
On the other hand, the Sindh Police is taking proactive steps to ensure security as Karachi will host the opening and opening ceremonies of the tournament apart from the upcoming ODI Tri-Series.
According to a police spokesperson, the commissioner has already held meetings to personally oversee the security arrangements at the National Stadium in Karachi.
PTI quoted a police spokesperson as saying, “Plans are in the works and at least 5,000 or more security personnel, including Sindh Police units, will be deployed for the matches, on the routes and in the team hotels.”
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) seems to have sensed the security threat, as at least 17,000 security personnel will be deployed for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, despite India not crossing the line for the prestigious tournament.
Top-8 teams in the fight for glory after 8 years
Meanwhile, after a long wait of eight years, the ICC Champions Trophy is back and after much drama, the tournament is set to begin in Pakistan and Dubai next month. Eight peaks teams from last year’s ODI World Cup 2023 will fight for the coveted title.
8 teams are divided into two groups. Group A consists of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and New Zealand, while Afghanistan, England, Australiaand South Africa are in Group B. Talking about the Champions Trophy 2025 format, each team plays three matches in the group stage and the top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals.
The two first-placed teams from the semi-finals will face each other in the clash for the title. However, Pakistan is yet to announce the squad for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy, while the remaining seven participants have already named their reserve squads.
