Meghan Markle, a former American actress, is trying to take on a new role this year: domestic diva.

The Duchess of Sussex’s much-anticipated Netflix series, “Love, Meghan,” has been pushed back to March 4 due to the wildfires in Los Angeles. Ahead of the premiere, the former “Suits” star was compared to Martha Stewart and Nigella Lawson, two lifestyle gurus who overcame bad press.

But some royal experts believe the mother-of-three has a long way to go before she is accepted into the desired circle.

“Meghan’s team helped her bring a huge amount of positive marketing and branding to her Netflix series,” British television presenter and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital.

“Over time, she could find success in the lifestyle,” Chard said. “However, this will take a long time because Meghan’s character does not fit this sickly-sweet image.”

“It feels inauthentic,” claimed Chard. “It’s like she’s trying to sort of fit in by playing a very outdated housewife role… very strange and discouraging. She’s spoken badly and left most of her family and friends, and that certainly doesn’t paint a picture of love and joy.”

He was the first to compare the three women The New York Times. Meghan’s plan to dominate the lifestyle is noted to follow a “profitable” blueprint that has worked for both Stewart, 83, and Lawson, 65.

Both women were once at the center of public crises, the paper reported.

In 2004, Stewart served a five-month prison sentence after being found guilty of insider trading charges, including obstruction of justice and conspiracy. After serving her sentence, she rebuilt her brand and made a successful comeback as a successful entrepreneur and TV personality.

Lawson’s failed marriage millionaire art collector Charles Saatchi and their tumultuous home life were the subject of tabloids. It escalated when he was photographed grabbing her by the throat outside a London restaurant, soon followed by their divorce in 2013.

While testifying at the fraud trial of two former assistants that year, the celebrity chef admitted in court that she had taken cocaine, but denied that she used it regularly.

Like Stewart, Lawson put the past behind her and started over. She came out on top with a new cookbook and appeared in several cooking specials. These days, she’s better known for going viral after her unique pronunciation of the word “microwave.”

“Martha Stewart is a leader in her field,” Chard said. “She achieved enormous success not only with her talent, but also by being herself, with enormous persistence and determination. She was innovative and delighted her audience.

“The same can be said for the much-loved Nigella, who is a sensational cook and host. She also has the most edgy, authentic, fun personality.”

“I think the Megan’s Lifestyle series is outdated,” Chard said. “She needs to add more to make her show modern and interesting. It would also help if she was a trained expert in the field. People could then buy into the brand she’s building instead of suffocating in smoke and mirrors.”

Before he joined the British royal familyMeghan had a lifestyle blog, The Tig. It was shut down after she got engaged to Harry in 2017. One of her first initiatives as a member of the royal family was to partner with Hubb Community Kitchen for a fundraising cookbook.

“She feels inauthentic. It’s like she’s trying to somehow fit in by playing a very outdated housewife role… very weird and disheartening. She spoke badly and left most of her family and friends, and that certainly doesn’t paint a picture of love and joy.”

But over the years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made headlines for their complaints. After moving to California in 2020, they gave a television interview to Oprah Winfrey in which they detailed their struggles with royal life. Then, in late 2022, they launched their controversial Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan, followed by Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare. Each launch highlighted new claims about their time in the royal family.

Coming up with a completely different role – one that’s been done several times before – will be a harder sell, some experts say.

“Martha Stewart was really the first mover in this space and, some would argue, created the entire lifestyle industry,” Doug Eldridge, agent, celebrity branding and marketing expert and founder of Achilles PR, told Fox News Digital. .

“In the three decades since … the industry has become increasingly saturated,” he said. “That’s not to say Meghan can’t carve out her own corner of the lifestyle market, but it’s going to be a lot harder than it would have been even just ten years ago. It’s akin to swimming laps in a lane with three other swimmers, versus 35 people with noodles in the pool, which are flailing about. It’s hard to distinguish – let alone dominate – when it’s so crowded.”

Meghan Markle has a lot to learn from the professionals who came before her, several royal experts have claimed. “Martha Stewart was really the first mover in this space and, some would argue, created the entire lifestyle industry,” said Doug Eldridge, agent, celebrity branding and marketing expert for Fox News Digital. “You’re going to have to change your stroke or swim in a completely different direction,” Eldridge added.

British royal expert Hilary Fordwich she told Fox News Digital that she doesn’t feel like the 43-year-old has found her footing yet. The show already seems to have failed to show Meghan’s true side, she claims.

“Meghan should focus on her brand instead,” Fordwich explained. “She’s extremely slim, so she should use that in her branding…Americans, and indeed many around the world, would love to be slim like her…It’s impossible to have her figure while enjoying sugar, cakes and the like her trailer. She should share how she has such a figure. It’s fake to cook food that she rarely eats. Share healthy recipes instead.”

“Also true to brand, she got a prince” said Fordwich. “How about you be completely authentic for once and give single women your advice on how to land an eligible bachelor? Many would also like to act. And how do you find acting jobs?”

“In other words, she should be authentic to who she is,” Fordwich added.

But not everyone agrees.

“This is about connecting with friends… making new friends… and just learning,” Meghan Markle said in the trailer for her Netflix series. (Netflix)

“I think it’s the other way around – what can Martha and Nigella learn from Meghan?” royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital.

“Meghan wins all the time, hands down, because her empathy with real people is huge,” he said. “When she started cooking with Muslim women and then created fundraising opportunities, she won the hearts of ethnic communities – that’s the real Meghan.

“Nigella and Martha are very good. They use their intelligence to connect. Meghan connects from the heart,” he claimed. “It’s up to the Americans… to succeed. I hope she triumphs. And she deserves it.”

“With love, Meghan” is The Duchess of Sussex’s first solo appearance project for Netflix. Last year, she also gave a glimpse of her upcoming lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Several of her famous friends showed off her strawberry jam on Instagram.
