Chasing a total of 183 runs, Australia National Cricket Team batsman Steve Smith, who opened the innings for his team, made sure to give his team a vital start. The batsman, who scored 100 in the last game, came up with another magical effort with the bat.
Smith gives the Sydney Sixers a great start with the bat despite less support from the other end
Smith didn’t get the desired support from the others in the chase, but he made sure to play his part to perfection. The superb batsman timed the ball to perfection and smashed the Adelaide Strikers bowlers all over the park.
Smith didn’t look at all fazed by the wickets falling at the other end as he made sure the Sydney Sixers kept their run rate on track. The batsman impressed his class with the bat and scored a magnificent half-century in the match, putting the opponents under pressure.
While his innings was commendable, Steve Smith also came up with a brilliant effort to save his wicket. It happened during the 4th over of the second when Henry Thorton bowled the first batsman and almost got a wicket.
Henry Thorton bowled the last over on middle and leg. Steve Smith tried to rip him off and hit him on the pads. The ball almost rolled back onto the stumps. But the batsman used his bat perfectly to deflect the ball and save his wicket.

Smith made a magnificent half-century and finished with an innings of 52 runs off 31 balls. The Australian national cricket team batsman batted at a strike rate of around 168 and also hit 2 fours and 4 sixes in his innings, taking his side to 80 runs inside 10 overs.
Steve Smith was removed by Jamie Overton in the 10th over. The pacer hit a short and wide ball outside off, to which the batsman went for a late cut. He didn’t hit the gap he wanted as he ended up hitting straight into the infielder at short third.
After his wicket, the Sydney Sixers lost their first wickets and were left reeling at 92/5. The onus will now be on Lachlan Shaw and Ben Dwarhuis to take the team home and help them record another win in the ongoing Big Bash League in 2024-25.
