David Warner takes stunning catch in BBL 2024-25 to stun cricket world
Former Australian opener David Warner rolled back the years and took a stunning catch during the 2024-25 Big Bash League match. between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers played at the Sydney Showground Stadium.
During the 14th over of the innings when the Perth Scorchers were batting, fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain bowled a short and wide ball outside the off stump. Seeing that mid-off was inside the circle, Ashton Agar tried to hit the ball hard over the fielder.
However, it didn’t connect well and David Warner, who was lined up in the middle, came back and jumped perfectly to catch the ball. David Warner completed the catch with a fine dive and jubilated with joy.

Sydney Thunder’s Chris Green joined David Warner in celebration and lifted him up before the rest of the squad joined in the fun. Warner timed his jump to perfection and really rolled back the years.
With this wicket, Perth Scorchers’ comeback bid came to a screeching halt as Ashton Agar was dismissed for just 7. The Scorchers were reduced to 76-7 when Mohammad Hasnain picked up his first wicket of the day.
Chris Green and Tom Andrews save Sydney Thunder
Earlier in the day, Perth Scorchers won the toss and fielded first. Skipper David Warner was dismissed early by fast bowler Lance Morris for just 8. The quick struck again to pick up the wicket of Matthew Gilkes.
Sam Billings was the next wicket to fall and that started the collapse for Sydney Thunder. They reduced them to 75-5 and it looked like their innings would soon be over. Sam Konstas was dismissed for an impressive 53 off 42 balls as Thunder lost a big wicket.
But Chris Green and Tom Andrews had other ideas as they collected some quick runs in the end. The duo put together an unbeaten partnership of 44 runs from the last three overs to take the Thunder to 158-7. In the final, 25 runs were scored, including 2 sixes and 2 fours.
Perth Scorchers collapse in Sydney
In reply, Perth Scorchers had a poor start to their innings and lost two early wickets in the form of Finn Allen and Sam Fanning. A brief partnership between Aaron Hardie and Cooper Connolly followed, but Hardie was dismissed and that began the collapse for the Scorchers.
The Scorchers innings never got back on track and were bowled out for just 97 in 17.2 overs. Hardie top scored for the Scorchers with 22 off 17 balls. Chris Green was the pick of the bowlers for the Thunder with 3-13 from four overs, while Nathan McAndrew finished with 2-21.
Tom Andrews was named man of the match for his all-round performance. Andrews scored 37 off 13 balls with the bat and picked up 1-20 in four overs with the ball.
