Rangers are now considering signing the “highly-rated” new midfielder in January

Rangers are among the teams interested in signing the “highly-rated” midfielder from the English Championship this transfer window, according to a recent report.

Rangers transfer news

The Gers made it back-to-back wins on Wednesday night, beating Aberdeen 3-0 to ease the pressure on the manager Philippe Clement. Despite the win, Rangers are 13 points behind leaders Celtic, and for that reason the Scottish side could be busy for the rest of this January transfer window.

Rangers have now agreed a £2million deal to sell the Ibrox striker at a “rapid” pace

Philippe Clement’s Rangers side will be weakened as the player nears the exit.

But rather than who might arrive at Ibrox, the talk so far this month has been more about who might leave the club. Earlier this week it was announced that Rangers could sell forward Cyriel Dessers. The striker, who scored against Aberdeen, has been on and off in recent weeks and with interest from Italy, Rangers could “sacrifice” the player this month.

The Gers also look set to lose a winger Rabbi Matondoas the club have agreed to loan him to an unnamed European club, who will eventually have a £2m option. The 24-year-old is another player who has fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox and now appears to be moving on.

Meanwhile, it was also claimed that West Ham are leading the race to sign Vaclav Cerny at the end of his loan spell with Gers, making it difficult for the Scottish giants to secure his services beyond this campaign.

Rangers are considering signing a “highly rated” player this month

With a number of exits on the cards at Ibrox, the Gers now have their eye on a potential arrival, as Football Insider reports that Rangers are considering signing Allan Campbell from Luton Town this month.

Campbell is currently on loan at League One side Charlton Athletic but is reportedly keen to return to Scotland this month, sparking interest from Rangers, as well as Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian, who could make a permanent move for the midfielder.

The 26-year-old is already a household name in the Scottish Premiership, having come through Motherwell’s academy. Campbell played 160 times for the Scottish team, scoring 16 goals, and one of those came against the Gers during the 2017/18 campaignwhen he scored in a 2-2 draw.

Campbell, which is labeled as “highly rated” by Graham Alexander while at Motherwell, he was an excellent player for Motherwell, and this earned him a move to Luton in 2021. However, after two seasons as a regular, he has now lost his place at Kenilworth Road and his future is far from club.

Campbell’s ability to play in multiple positions in midfield would make him a very useful addition for Clement at this time.
