Ajinkya Rahane replaces Shreyas iyer as Captain Kkr, Venkatesh Iyer has appointed his deputy
Kolkat Knight Riders (KKR) performed an exceptional appearance under Skipra Shreyas Iyer, mentator Gautam Gambhir and the main coach of Chandrakant Pandit in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kkr played an exciting Mark of the crislette and continued to win his third IPL title by beating Pat Cummins Sunrizes Sunrizes Hyderabad (SRH) in the finals.
However, in the IPL 2025, it will be a big challenge for Kolkt riders to defend the title while Gautam Gambhir, along with Abhishek Nayar, left the franchise to join Team India and Shreyas Iyer moved to Punjab Kings (PBKS).
It is significant that KKR failed to keep Shreyas Iyer and decided to enter the auction, where it was drawn by Punjab Kings for a whopping 26.75 crown Inr.
In the meantime, Kkr was desperately sought by a new captain at the auction table after losing Shreyas Iyer and they broke their bank to bring back Venkatesh Iyer for INR 23.75 Crore. It was expected to take over the captain after expressing his desire for water, but that did not happen.
Kalkat Knight Riders (KKR), instead, appointed Ajinkya Rahana for a captain, who was bought at the end of the auction at their basic price in 1.5 crowns, when the franchises were given the opportunity to invite certain non -Nadod players. Also, Venkatesh Iyer was named Vice-Capetan KKR.
We are happy to get ajinkya – venky mysore
In interacting with ESPNCricinfo, Venky Mysore said that Venkatesh was highly evaluating, but they decided to name Ajinkya Rahane as a skipper because of their maturity and experience.
“IPL is a pretty intense tournament. Clearly, we mean very well the Venkatesh Iyer but at the same time [captaincy] Taxes on a young man. We have seen a lot of people who have a lot of challenges with that [handling captaincy] as they go forward. It takes very stable, it takes a lot of maturity and experience we felt with us ajinkya, “he said.
“He played 185 IPL Games, 200 International Games in Format. He led India, led Mumbai in the domestic, led at IPL. And he played from the first season of IPL. All that is massively. [on appointing Rahane as captain]. “
Venky Mysore added that the role of the captain is very important in IPL because it involves dealing with the media, managing players and organizing team meetings, along with several other responsibilities that only experienced campaigns can be worn. He said:
“From this perspective, we are lucky that we got ajinky who will be great for us. Not only as a captain, of which there is no doubt, but also as a machine gun. He scored a ton of running.”
He is for us for sure for the future – Venky Mysore

“We were very, very impressed with the leadership qualities he showed. He is a franchise player and what he has shown in the sense of being involved and respect that others have around him and the energy he brings [to the dressing room]So, he definitely has a huge potential, “he said.
“So he is for us for sure for the future. Obviously the captain’s material. Knowing Ajinkya, he will take him [Venkatesh] Under the wings and a mentor on the captain’s side of things. “
