Timo Werner is leaving Tottenham after falling out of Postecoglou’s plans

Tottenham will part ways with Tim Werner at the end of the season as the Premier League club have no plans to turn his loan deal into a permanent move.

The German star joined Spurs during the January transfer window and there was an option for the London outfit to keep the winger permanently at the club this summer for a fee of 15 million pounds. Tottenham have decided to extend the 28-year-old’s loan deal for another season in the summer, and that deal would contain a buy-out clause worth just £8.5m.

Despite this very low asking price, Spurs have no plans to turn Werner’s loan deal into a permanent transfer, reports report BUILDmeaning that the former Chelsea star will return to RB Leipzig at the end of the current season.

This is a big blow for the German club and the player he would have been hoping for an easy deal next summer.

Ange Postecoglou apparently has no plans for the winger beyond the current campaign and will instead look to bring in someone else to fill the role, should the Australian remain in charge of the London side for the 2025/26 campaign.

Werner initially looked like he could be a useful tool for Tottenham as the German star’s energy suited Postecoglou’s intense attacking style of play.

However, the 28-year-old failed to impress during his last year at Spurs, managing just three goals and six assists in 37 games for the Lilywhites. The RB Leipzig loanee failed to cement himself in Postecoglou’s starting XI, with the recent match with Rangers leaving The Spurs boss is angry with Werner for his display.

The decision comes as no surprise given the season the German winger is having and leaves questions about where his career will go next.
