Man Utd are planning a move for the £45m “monster” who is better than Mbeum and Kolo Muani

Manchester UnitedThe user attack was passable at best during the first months of 2024/25, struggling to secure possessions in the final third – leading to their low Premier League standing.

Marcus Rashford is the ‘Red Devils’ in a way the best scorer in the league along with Bruno Fernandes, despite not featuring since the first week of December in the defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are the other two senior forwards currently playing Reuben Amorimavailable, but they only managed to achieve a they scored five goals between them in the league to date.

As a result, their tally of 23 goals scored is the fifth-lowest in the division, showing how desperate they are to strengthen their front line this month.

Randal Kolo Muani was widely named as one of the goals on United’s shortlist, but given the lack of goals, who only saw him just twice this season – instead they desperately need to look for alternative targets.

The hierarchy could subsequently shift for one player who has returned to their radar in recent days.

Man Utd target deal to sign PL star

According to GIVEMESPORT, United is one of the many teams from the first league currently monitoring the progress of the Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha before a possible move.

The 25-year-old has already applied ten goals in 19 games despite the West Midlands side’s lack of form – easily the most impressive player at Molineux in recent months.

However, Arsenal and Spurs are just two other sides keeping tabs on the Brazilian in 2024/25, also mulling a potential move for his signature.

The report also states that the striker will be available for as little as £45m in the summer if a deal is not completed this term if Vitor Pereira’s side are relegated in the Championship.

Despite the links with Cunha, there are still rumors of a move for another striker plying his trade in the English top flight, with both undoubtedly improving the options available to Amorim.

Why Cunha would be better than Mbeum for Man United

Kolo Muani was on the club’s shortlist in recent months, but was temporarily moved seems most likely for the Frenchman – United’s hierarchy should be looking for a permanent solution to the goalscoring problem this month.

As a result, Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo was another name touted for the move at Old Trafford – unsurprising given his recent form for the Bees during 2024/25.

The Cameroonian scored 13 times in 20 Premier League gameswith his goalscoring form he certainly provides Amorim with the extra ammunition he desperately needs.

However, given the 3-4-2-1 system and Mbeum’s usual right-wing role not included in such a formation, the former Troyes star could be lost at Old Trafford.

Comparing the Brentford ace to Cunha, the Brazilian has dominated the Bees man in various areas this season, highlighting how he would be an excellent addition for the Red Devils.

Cunha, which was previously called “monster” of current teammate Joao Gomes, may have recorded fewer combined goals and assists, but produced more progressive carries and additions at 90 – showing his creative ability, helping his potential new team-mates at Old Trafford.

A pass is considered progressive if the distance between the starting point and the next touch is at least 10 meters closer to the opponent’s goal or any completed pass into the penalty area.

He also achieved more shots on target at 90 along with more completed dribbles, making him the perfect player to feature behind the strikers or at the top of the pitch under Amorim.

Whether it’s this month or the summer, £45m for a player of Cunha’s quality would be an absolute bargain – one that would surely improve the side’s attacking output.

Names like Kolo Muani and Mbeum are ones the club should steer clear of, and the Wolves ace has the skill and technical ability to be a perfect fit for United for years to come.
