The Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu’s closed mayor declared the presidential candidate opposition

The Turkish Republican People’s Party (CHP) – the main opposition party and the second largest party in parliament – officially appointed Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu as her presidential candidate for the 2028 election on Monday. The announcement followed after Imamoglu spent the first night in prison after being charged with corruption equalized against him.
