Trump lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier before the inauguration
President-elect Donald Trump Vice President-elect JD Vance participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Sunday, ahead of his return to The white house.
Trump participated in a series of events in Washington before his return to office.
The wife of the newly elected president, Melania Trump, was also there, as well as his children: Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump and Ivanka Trump. Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, was also in attendance.

Some of Trump’s cabinet selections were in the crowd, including Pete Hegseth, his choice for defense secretary; Marco Rubio, his choice for secretary of state; Tulsi Gabbard, his pick for director of national intelligence; and Elise Stefanik, his choice for United Nations ambassador.
Trump appeared serious as he placed a wreath on the easel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the pouring rain and in front of a hushed crowd. A few moments later, Vance did the same.
Trump saluted as Vance held his hand over his heart during the ceremony.

The two left Arlington National Cemetery after the ceremony.
Trump is scheduled to hold a “MAGA Victory” campaign-style rally at Capitol One Arena on Sunday night.
