Vikings rookie JJ McCarthy shares a cryptic post after a crushing playoff loss
Minnesota Vikings first overall pick JJ McCarthy posted a cryptic message on social media after the Minnesota Vikings suffered a crushing loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round on Monday night.
The post comes amid speculation about it Darnold herself future in Minnesota.
The Vikings went 14-3 during the regular season with Darnold at the helm. He seemed to resurrect his career after a torrid start with the New York Jets and several backup roles that followed.

But the playoffs were different.
Fighting for the top seed in the NFC, the Vikings were blown out by the side Detroit Lions in the 18th week. Darnold completed just 19 of 41 for 166 yards and no touchdowns. He was also fired twice. Fast forward to Monday night, and the former No. 1 draft pick showed no signs of improvement.
He finished the 27-9 loss 25 of 39 for 245 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was also sacked nine times.
“Obviously I haven’t played well enough the last few weeks,” Darnold said after the game.

But more interesting than Darnold’s postgame confession were backup quarterback JJ McCarthy’s comments.
Former michigan quarterback, who won a national championship before being drafted No. 10 overall by the Vikings, posted a cryptic message on X after the loss to Minnesota.
“Amor fati”, he wrote.
The Latin term, meaning “love of fate,” refers to a mindset applied to how one views life, both good and bad.

The post that went viral on social media could have several meanings for McCarthy.
He missed his entire rookie season with an injury and could return for the 2025 season as the Vikings’ new starter as Darnold becomes a free agent after back-to-back losses the rest of the year.
