The incident on Sunday, with 59-year-old Shaik Adam Shabir Ammed from the South African city of Mkhondo, remains under the investigation of police, according to South African national parks.

South African national parks have also said that he expresses his “sincere condolences to the Ammed family and wants their strength in this difficult time.”

Park officials describe elephants as “usually calm animals”, but keep in mind that “they can become aggressive when sick, injured or bullied.”
“Elephants can be launched by threat of demonstration or real charge. Most charges are mocking accusations that have been interrupted before the goal is reached,” said South African national parks.
