NBA Commish Adam Silver says he supports the idea of moving to a ‘four, 10-minute quarters’
Just over half of the NBA season has passed and the commissioner Adam Silver’s Look for ways to improve the league appear in full swing.
This week silver floated with a drastic change of rules for the length of the fourth during NBA games.
NBA plays a 12-minute neighborhood. If NBA adopted a silver proposal, these periods would decrease in two minutes. The ten -minute quarters would take away eight minutes from an hour of play.

Silver noted that the reduction could create a more “more consistent” presentation for basketball fans watching games on TV.
“I’m a fan of four, 10 minutes,” Silver said “Patrick Show Day,” when asked about the more drastic ideas that NBA was considering.
“I am not sure that many others … reject what it means for records and such things. I think the two -hour game format is more in line with modern television habits. People in the arenas are not asking us to shorten the game, but .. . As a television program, the Olympic basketball is two hours.
At one point, Silver cited the length of the games played in other leagues around the world.
“The NBA is the only (basketball) league that plays 48 minutes. It is such a dramatic change in the game. … that should talk more about that over time.”

During Summer Olympic GamesBasketball games last 40 minutes. Basketball games in the US are divided into 20-minute halves.
“Because this game is so global, one of the things we would like to see over time is creating a consistent set of rules around the world,” Silver said.

Silver noted that shaving two minutes from a quarter could reduce the spending of players during the season of 82 games, while it would potentially help the league in the fight against its “load management”.
“By the way, if you were going to a 40-minute game-s problems with loading and resting problems, it would be equivalent to … extracted 15 games out of season,” Silver said.
Silver made it clear that the ideas he mentioned during exchange with Patrick were discussed, but they were nowhere near adopted.
“It’s not exactly on that level,” he said.

Silver also praised The baseball of the main league To add a tilt clock. He claimed that the change helped “accelerate the game”, maintaining traditional aspects of the game in place.

“I am a fans of baseball and I think some of these changes have really increased the type of engagement … The fun value of the game, so I pay great attention to that,” Silver said.
“And, in fact, I used the clock on the field … At the NBA meetings to say … we should not be afraid to look at the changes.”
