Local and federal authorities have said the back-to-back attacks in Las Vegas and New Orleans are not connected.
At a news conference Friday afternoon local time, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill revealed why authorities do not believe the devastating attacks are connected.
“Why don’t we consider what happened in New Orleans and what happened in Las Vegas? The simple answer to that is we don’t find anything that really points us in that direction,” he said. “There are these coincidences that we’ve been very open about, but throughout this investigation we’ve found nothing that directly links the two attacks.”

The driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on New Year’s Day was suffering from PTSD and did not seem to like President-elect Trump, local and federal authorities said Friday.
“Although this incident is more public and sensational than usual, ultimately it appears to be a tragic suicide involving a highly decorated war veteran who struggles with PTSD and other issues,” McMahill said.
