An anti-aging Silicon Valley influencer says he doesn’t believe he’s going to die
Tech billionaire and anti-aging influencer Bryan Johnson clearly answered that he did not believe he would die, thanks to his lifestyle.
Johnson appeared on “Honestly” Podcast The Free Press with Bari Weiss on Tuesday to discuss his recent Netflix documentary “Don’t Die: The Man Who Wanted to Live Forever,” which detailed his strict regimen to achieve immortality.
Calling himself “quantitatively” the healthiest person in history, Johnson openly replied that he did not believe he would die, although he was unclear about living “forever.”
“Do you think you’re going to die?” Weiss asked.
“No,” Johnson replied.
Weiss followed up, “You think you’re going to live forever?”
“Forever is not a concept that the human mind can think about, but will we be able to radically extend life beyond our preconceived imaginations? Yes,” Johnson replied. “Is it going to happen before my natural limit now? My life expectancy is probably, I don’t know, 80, 90, that sort of thing if I keep my health. But technology is moving so fast that… it’s kind of either I live or I die at this time long before my life span will increase.”
Johnson’s lifestyle includes going to bed at 8:30 p.m., monitoring his nightly erections, and even injecting his teenage son’s plasma into his bloodstream.
When asked if he misses “the things that make life,” Johnson clarified that human knowledge of life is still limited.
“Let’s just imagine we’re doing a thought experiment,” Johnson began, “we hang out with Homo erectus. They existed a million years ago. And we say to Homo erectus, ‘Homo erectus, tell us what is the purpose of life?’ And they’ll grumble and say ‘well, it’s all about hunting and gathering, and we’re going to move our tribe. There’s going to be more war.’ They wouldn’t be able to tell you about quantum mechanics or smart phones or antibiotics or this new form of artificial intelligence.”
He continued: “They could not speak intelligently about what a beautiful life is. They are just so primitive in their thought processes. We are as primitive as Homo erectus as we are for AI. We are just as primitive. We can no longer say anything intelligent about the future , so the idea that we have somehow mastered existence and know the purpose of existence is so silly.
He added that it’s important for people to remain “incredibly humble” when considering existence and encouraged listeners to “dissolve our preconceived notions of what that means” when trying to achieve this lifestyle.
TECH MILLIONAIRE SEEKS IMMORTALITY, PLANS TO REDUCE HIS ‘BIOLOGICAL AGE’
Johnson spoke with Fox News Digital last year about his lifestyle and reduced his perspective to the simple mantra “don’t die”.
“When you’re a child just a few steps away from the power of the gods, in this case, artificial intelligence, the only enemy is death,” he added. “There is no other enemy. This is not the time to raise an army and conquer territory. It is a game for the previous centuries of Homo sapiens. It is not a game for us now. So we are just in another era of human being, and we have to update our gameplay as a species to understand where we are .”
