Archaeologists find ‘creepy’ dolls on top of the Pyramid El Salvador

Archaeologists who dug in Central America recently discovered strange 2,400 years of clay doll in an unexpected place.
Discoveries, which were found on top El Salvador’s Pyramid San Isidro, was published in an article entitled “Doll and Doll: Pre -Classic Clay Figurines from San Isidra, El Salvador”, March 5. The ancient Meso -American puppets date between 410 and 380 BC
Pictures show dolls that possess creepy facial expressions of open mouth. The biggest dolls of the group are around their feet long, and “they are naked and deprived of hair or jewelry”, while the least “modeled with hair locks at the forehead and ears in the lobes,” the study said.
Researchers have found that artifacts are dolls because of holes in their heads, which could easily fit in.

“Three larger figures had artificial, adjustable heads, facilitated by the conical protrusions on the neck and the corresponding sockets at the base of each head,” the study described. “Each socket has two holes drilled to the top of the head, and each neck bulge has one horizontal hole and a shallow vertical channel on each side, allowing the string to be passed through the neck and tied to the top of the head.”
The figurines may have served for various purposes, the study claims, including “being, effectively, puppets or puppets in re -introduction of certain scenes, and static and dynamic.”

Szymański also noted that the last resting place of the dolls at the top of the pyramid suggests that they may have been ritually important.
“They can get a job in various different performance before they finally deposit as something real, really special,” the researcher said. “I would say the tomb, but we don’t have a body.”
Although it is unclear to researchers how much dolls used, the pyramid excavation is still ongoing – and archaeologists are still looking for answers.
