Former Vice President Kamala Harris drew ridicule online after she made a “word salad”-style statement about the nature of “community” while speaking to firefighters in California.
After her term as vice president ended Monday, Harris visited the Los Angeles Fire Department in Altadena and spoke to the media.
“As I said to these brave and extraordinary firefighters, you know moments of crisis they really bring out the heroes among us,” she said. “We went and visited World Central Kitchen. I mean, the volunteers who were there, some of them who lost their own homes, are there doing the work of taking care of perfect strangers, who see a neighbor in that stranger’s face.”
She went on to say, “These are people who understand the power and value of community, which means everyone coming together with a shared sense of purpose and identity as a community of people.”

Harris was mocked many times during her time as vice president for her tendency to repeat statements or “word salad,” such as the statement, “I grew up understanding that the children of the community are the children of the community.” In a similar statement at another event, she noted, “community banks are in the community.”
Her critics over social media. she was quickly mocked once again for her latest world salad.
“Community is community. People. Write it down, please,” said author Rob Jenkins sarcastically.
Paul A. Szypula, a former US Senate candidate and conservative commentator, tweeted: “Kamala reminds America why she’s unemployed right now.”
“She may be gone from DC, but remember: somewhere in the world, someone is being subjected to Kamala’s ‘Deep Thought’ river salads,” radio host Jay Weber joked.
Wall Street Journal film critic Kyle Smith wrote, “an unemployed person thinks about a thing that happened 3,000 miles from where he was.”
