Ipswich vs Brighton: Preview, Predictions and Lineups
Brighton are looking for their first Premier League win since November when they take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Thursday night.
After such a strong start to the season under young German manager Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton fell to the the lower half of the table after December without a win. The Seagulls have been plagued by injury after injury over the winter, but their recent performances have guaranteed more points.
They have managed four draws in their previous four league meetings and managed to let off some steam at the weekend when they beat second division Norwich City 4-0 in FA Cup.
Ipswich fans would no doubt have had smiles on their faces when they saw Saturday’s result at Carrow Road, and their weekend got even better the following day as Kieran McKenna’s side eased past Bristol Rovers to progress to the fourth round.
Recent signs suggest that Ipswich will not go down without a fight this season. They achieved their first home victory in the championship against Chelsea round 2024 and were denied victory at Fulham by Raul Jimenez’s penalty in stoppage time.
Here 90 minutes guide for Thursday Premier League conflict.

The hosts are without several key players in attack on Thursday, with Omari Hutchinson briefly sidelined after missing Sunday’s win over Bristol Rovers with a groin injury. McKenna will also be unable to call on Sammie Szmodics due to an ankle problem.
Ipswich have already lost Chiedozie Ogbene for the season after tearing his Achilles, while Axel Tuanzebe and Conor Chaplin are also out.
Liam Delap has been a star for Ipswich this season and he will lead the line for the Tractor Boys at Portman Road on Thursday.
Predicted line-up for Ipswich vs Brighton (5-2-3): Walton; Johnson, O’Shea, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Cajuste; Broadhead, Delap, Clarke.
There have been many groans from north London about injury problems, but no team has been hit harder by forced absences than Brighton.
The Galeb’s injury list it is still extensive, and they could be without nine first team players on Thursday.
Joao Pedro is the latest casualty, with a rolled ankle putting his status for the next few games in doubt. Hurzeler will also be without Ferdi Kadioglu, James Milner, Jack Hinshelwood and new signing Diego Gomez.
Georginio Rutter and Yankuba Minteh are doubtful, but Lewis Dunk and Tariq Lamptey should be ready to return. Danny Welbeck is also back in action which comes as a big boost for the visitors.
Predicted line-up for Brighton vs Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Estupinan; Baleba, Ayari; Gruda, Enciso, Mitoma; Welbeck.
It’s been too long since Brighton won a win in the Premier Leagueand while Ipswich’s resilience deserves huge credit, they will struggle to get through Thursday’s game in the absence of Szmodics and Hutchinson – Delap’s impressive supporting cast.
Hurzeler’s side were relentless at the weekend and the steam let off at Carrow Road should ease the tension on Thursday night. They may enjoy trips to East Anglia and we could see Welbeck, on his return to the Premier League XI, inspire a long-awaited triumph for the visitors.
