The report claims the former 33-goal Rangers star is now set to return to Ibrox
former Rangers the player who scored 33 times in his first spell at the club is reportedly set to return to Ibrox during the January transfer window.
Rangers excited after Celtic’s victory
Philippe Clement earned one of the most important wins of his entire tenure on Thursday afternoon, not just in terms of his future, but because it came in emphatic fashion against Celtic.
Rangers comprehensively outplayed their biggest rivals at Ibrox, to a 3-0 victory and rarely looks in trouble. Ianis Hagi, Robin Propper and Danilo scored for the Gers, who closed the gap at the top Scottish Premiership up to 11 points.
Far from such an impressive win, Rangers continue to be linked with a possible new signing this month, to further increase their chances of moving even closer to Celtic. Varaždin midfielder Leon Belcar has emerged as a target for the Scottish giants and the 22-year-old Croatian has the potential to form an impressive partnership with Nicolas Raskin in the middle of the park.
Rangers are also believed to be one of a number of clubs interested in striking a deal before making contact with the Burnley ace Josh Brownhill in January. The Englishman is in the final year of his contract at Turf Moor, which means he will be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The former Rangers player is set to return to Ibrox
Now, according to Turkish outlet BBO Sports, as reported by Ibrox News, Rangers are reportedly on the verge of bringing Ryan Kent back to the clubin great development.
It would be huge news for Kent to return to Rangers this month, having been a popular and influential figure in his first spell at the club, scoring 33 goals and registering 56 assistsproviding a consistent attacking threat from outside.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after ending a disappointing spell at Turkish side Fenerbahce, but it looks like he could be back in the Gers shirt very soon.
Given his age, there is no reason why Kent lost yardage, although he may lack match fitness, and it’s worth reminding how Steven Gerrard he rated him while he was manager, saying back in 2020:
“From an attacking point of view, I think Ryan was a game-changer for us tonight. He does an incredible job of running in behind and he’s added that to his game this season. He gets us a penalty for penetration and he’s just a constant threat. He’s so sharp and he added a different dimension to his game. He’s a joy to watch and coach and we just have to enjoy him.”

There may not be many negatives at all to Rangers re-signing Kent, although some fans may have been unhappy with his initial departure, and it seems a free transfer could be agreed.
