Liverpool star Darwin Nunez appears to be liking a social media post urging him to join the UCL rivals
Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez liked a post on social networks linking him with a move to another Champions League club, AC Milan. Nunez, who has struggled to secure regular playing time under new manager Arne Sloto, has been linked with a potential move to the Italian giants during the January window.
The Uruguayan forward joins the Reds in 2022, following a record £85million move from Benfica. However, he has not lived up to high expectations and is currently behind Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in Sloto’s pecking order.
AC Milan TMN previously reported that the club had opened talks with Liverpool over a half-season loan deal, which would include an obligation to buy in the summer for £37.4m. These speculations are sure to gain even more significance after Nunez liked an Instagram story showing him in an AC Milan shirt.
Although Milan remain strongly linked with Darwin Nunez, contrary report from Post Simon Jones suggests that Liverpool have not received any communication from the Italian club regarding a potential transfer.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot himself expressed his belief in the striker’s ability to influence games.
“For me, he has an impact. If you’re just looking at goals, he hasn’t scored as many goals as he wants, or we want him to score number nine, but he’s making an impact with his work rate. He is part of a team that scores a lot of goals and wins a lot,” he said (via the BBC)
Liverpool are in good form and are currently at the top of the Premier League table. They are six points ahead of the second place Arsenalwho have played one game more than the Reds.
The Liverpool legend shares his thoughts on the potential departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold
While Nunez has been linked with a move, multiple reports suggest that Liverpool’s vice-captain, Trent Alexander-Arnold, could leave for Real Madrid next summer. His contract expires at the end of the season, allowing him to begin negotiations with other clubs this month.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragherin a post on social media platform X, he stressed that the club and its players should remain focused on winning the Premier League, in which they currently hold a convincing lead.
“The most important thing for @LFC in 2025 is winning the #PremierLeague. No one’s contract or future should stand in the way of that! I love Trent as a guy and a player but his team would tell Real Madrid to offer AND they also know LFC will refuse to cover when he goes up for free,” he tweeted.
The Reds are preparing for a series of challenging fixtures this month, starting with the crucial clash against Manchester United at Anfield on January 5. They will then travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on January 8.
