Celtic have now made contact over a deal for the “exciting” striker who could be brought in to replace Kyogo Furuhashi this month, according to the report.
Furuhashi is attracting attention from Celtic
Furuhashi has been one of the Hoops’ best players for several years and has continued to impress this season, picking up eight goals and three assists in 20 Scottish Premiership excursions.
As such, the Japan international has begun to attract attention from elsewhere, with a report last month revealing the MLS side Atlanta United were preparing an offer of 10 million poundswho clearly expressed their interest for the first time last summer.
Brendan Rodgers‘ team are in an extremely strong position to regain the Scottish Premiership title, with rivals Rangers recently running away against Hibernian and Dundee, despite winning the derby at Ibrox earlier this month.
As such, the Celtic manager may not feel too many changes are needed this winter, but there is now a plan to do so Kyogo departs Parkhead.

According to a report in The Express, the Hoops are looking to revamp their attacking options and have now identified the ideal replacement for the Japanese striker.
Contact has been made with Mathias Kvistgaarden camp since the opening of the January transfer window, and Kyog’s future is still questionable due to the interest of Atlanta United.
Celtic are unlikely to make a move for Kvistgaarden this month, unless Kyogo leaves the club, but he is well-liked by key figures at Parkhead, who have now been following him for 18 months.
Brondby are keen to keep the striker until the end of the season as he has been in fantastic form, but a move in January has not been ruled out, should a suitable offer come in, amid growing interest from clubs in England and Germany.
Kvistgaarden impressive in Denmark
The 22-year-old has been in fine form in Denmark this season, competing with 10 goals and four assists in 15 league games, so it’s clear why the Hoops are so keen on a move.
Football talent hunter Jacek Kulig has praised The Dane has been described as an “exciting” talent in the past, and his performances in his homeland suggest he could be ready for the next step in his career with a move to Parkhead.
However, it would be a shame to see Kyog leave the club, given how big a part the forward has played in Celtic’s success over the past few years, but he will turn 30 in just over a week and it’s important that Rodgers plans for the future .
As such, Celtic should continue to monitor Kvistgaarden’s performances between now and the end of the season to ensure that he is a suitable replacement for the number 8, who will be very difficult to keep track of.
