Real Madrid finds out how long Vinicius Junior’s suspension lasts after Valencia’s red card
Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior received a two-match suspension for his red card in the recent win over Valencia.
Vinicius was shown in solid red for shoving Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski and faced a ban of at least four matches for violent conduct, although it was quickly assumed that the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) would offer a shorter punishment amid claims that Vinicius had been provoked.
The RFEF have now confirmed that Vinicius has been handed two bans for what is considered “violent behaviour” rather than an act of aggression.
Such a suspension will make Vinicius miss out La Liga games against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid, but will be free to face Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Mallorca on Thursday.
Despite avoiding the harshest punishment, MARCH Real Madrid still plans to appeal the verdict, arguing that Vinicius should not have been sent off in the first place due to Dimitrievski’s provocation.
El Chiringuito they claim that the Valencia goalkeeper started taunting Vinicius early in the second half for not converting a penalty for Madrid, which he eventually missed Jude Bellinghamand Dimitrievski reportedly continued to try to anger Vinicius as the clock ticked down.
