Reddy’s heroism saved the Indian team in Melbourne
Reddy became a hero after rescuing the team in the Boxing Day Test after the entire Indian batting order fell to the Australian attack like a deck of cards. The Australians scored a whopping 474 runs in their first innings. In response, India’s batting order completely collapsed amid consistent dismissals. In those desperate times, Reddy along with Washington Sundar scripted a remarkable partnership of 127 runs to save the Indian innings from the humiliation of the sequel. Reddy’s epic 114 runs in the innings helped India post 369 runs on a board of 221/7 at one point and brought India’s total close to Australia’s first innings score. Reddy was the 4th highest run scorer in the series with 298 runs in 9 innings.
