An unflappable 71-year-old woman gave a group of would-be teenage robbers a taste of their own medicine when they tried to rob an elderly person on their way to church on New Year’s Day.
A brave attacker fended off four teenage girls as they punched and stomped on her during a botched robbery at New York City subway system, the latest in a string of crimes in the Big Apple’s crime-ridden transit network.
The victim was on her way to a New Year’s Eve church service in Brooklyn around 6 p.m. when she got off the 3 train at Hoyt Station — only to be attacked by teenagers, according to the NYPD and New York Post report.

Police say the four suspects tried to steal the woman’s bag and hit her on the body. New York police have released video of the group smiling as they pass through subway turnstiles, and police say they are still at large. They asked for the public’s help in tracking them down.
The woman, identified by the Post as Linda Rosa of East New York, detailed the disturbing attack for the publication, saying she was adamant she would not be robbed.
Rosa said after one of the teenage girls tried to grab her purse while the other also tried to get sticky fingers all over it, asking the older one if she wanted to fight.
The first teenager then punched Rosa in the face, knocking her glasses to the floor, while the second teenager managed to grab a purse that contained Rosa’s ID and medical records, she said.
“I was still struggling with the first person,” Rosa told the Post. “Then I tried to kick her between the legs, but my leg wouldn’t extend enough, so I believe that’s when I fell. I fell, and then she stepped on me.”

Afraid that the law-defying teenagers would hit her on the head, Rosa said she fought back.
“So I immediately got up and with that I grabbed her braids and twisted them around my right arm and then I pulled her down. Her head was down,” Rosa said. “Then another young lady said, ‘Let her go.’ And I said, ‘Oh, no, I’m not going to let her go.'”
A brave older girl shouted for someone to help her, and then another teenager came to get her again.
“So I grabbed her hair out of nowhere and twisted it around my left arm,” Rosa said. “So I put them both face down…[like] rams when they are getting ready for battle.”
Rosa said the other two teenagers screamed at her to let them go, and Rosa then yelled for help.
The elder eventually let them go and the stunned teenagers fled the subway.
Rosa then went to the nearby Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, where the staff took care of her and called 911, the Post writes.
The police say Fox News Digital that the victim suffered minor injuries and was taken by EMS to Brooklyn Hospital Center in stable condition.

She told the Post she’s thankful they didn’t have a weapon and that the terrifying ordeal didn’t trigger a heart attack.
Still, she said she forgives them.
“They don’t know what they’re doing,” Rosa told the Post. “They don’t know what they’ve done. It’s just teenagers acting stupid.”
She said no one is safe on the New York subway or on the streets these days.
“It could happen to anyone,” Rosa said. “Now we’re seeing older people being attacked. Anywhere – it can happen anywhere, at any station. You could walk down the street. Maybe you’re crossing the street.”

The attack happened just a day after a 45-year-old man squeezed into an oncoming subway train in Manhattan. He suffered a head injury and miraculously remained in a stable condition.
Days earlier, police said an illegal immigrant from Guatemala viciously set fire to and burned a woman to death on a subway train in Brooklyn, New York.
The crimes are happening despite New York Governor Kathy Hochul advertising the subway system as safe.
