Arsenal’s “special” striker with 14 G/A is now rejecting a January transfer
Arsenal’s hopes of a new striker this month have been dashed after it emerged one player had already rejected their offers and would not be moving to north London to join Mikel Arteta foreign in January, according to the report.
Arsenal need attacking reinforcements
Arsenal’s need for fresh faces in attack has been thrown into stark reality this month as two injuries in seven days have decimated their front line.
Teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri was substituted at half-time with a muscle injury in the 1-1 draw Premier League drew with Brighton, before Gabriel Jesus suffered a serious knee injury eight days later, with early reports suggest he could be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
“Great concern. That’s my feeling,” Mikel Arteta told the media afterwards. “He had to go out on a stretcher in a lot of pain. Touching the knee, it doesn’t look good.”

The duo join Bukayo Saka on the sidelines of the Emirates Stadium and leave Arteta with just four options to choose from in attack, one of which is rarely used loanee Raheem Sterling.
But with the January transfer window open, there is an opportunity for Arsenal to strengthen their front line provided they can find the right player in the right place, with the club linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo so far this month. It seems that now they have reached a dead end in their search for another target.
The “special” striker rejected Arsenal’s move
That’s according to a new report from Spain, which points to Wolves forward Matheus Cunha as the player in question. The Brazilian forward has been in red-hot form so far this season, scoring 12 goals and grabbing two more assists despite his side struggling to stay out of the relegation zone for much of the campaign.
Connected
In recent months, he has also received a lot of praise, with new Wolves boss Vitor Pereira labeling him a “special” player last month: “He’s a special player. He can do things that can make a difference in the little details.”
And he was linked with a move to Molineux earlier in the transfer window amid interest from Arsenalbut that is now a closed chapter.
According to the report, “Cunha has no plans to leave Wolves in this January transfer window” and has rejected approaches from both Arsenal and Manchester United to stay in the Midlands.
Although a move is “not expected” in January, a future move is not out of the question for the Brazilian, who is reportedly is approaching a new contract with Old Goldwhich could include a release clause and will likely see him receive a significant raise A £60,000-a-week contract.
However, for Arsenal, the news will come as a blow as they look for immediate reinforcements for Arteta’s first line.
