Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘on the verge’ of a Real Madrid transfer deal
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is “on the verge” of leaving his boyhood club to agree a free transfer transfer with Real Madrid next summer, according to a report in Spain.
He graduated from the academy and is one of three first-team stars on Merseyside to start the season with just one year left on his contract. While Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk would both like to stay at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold did nothing undo numerous connections with Real Madrid.
As January 1 approaches, marking the point at which players with contracts expiring in June 2025 can begin negotiations with foreign clubs, Liverpool they are increasingly likely to lose their quarterback.
MARCH recently claimed that Alexander-Arnold has informed the club of his desire to join Madrid next summer and now AS report that the job is “90%” complete. The only element missing from the contract is the player’s signature, which cannot be applied until the start of the new year.
Alexander-Arnold is understood to have repeatedly rejected extension offers from his current employer, attracted by the chance to play for the record-breaking European champions.
The latest report claims the deal will be done “soon, very soon” as Madrid decide they need a youthful alternative to the aging (and injured) Dani Carvajal. If Alexander-Arnold’s move unexpectedly fails, Madrid Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro, Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong and Sevilla youngster Juanlu are all thought to be lined up as alternatives.
There is no chance of Madrid paying a fee to take Alexander-Arnold away from Anfield in January, but the club are “firmly optimistic” that next summer’s free transfer will be signed and sealed in the coming weeks. However, any deal may not be officially announced until the end of the season to avoid undermining Alexander-Arnold’s final few months at Liverpool.
