A popular Japanese actor was fired from a commercial for a low-alcohol beer after he broke into a neighbor’s house drunk
A popular Japanese actor hired to be the healthy face of a low-alcohol beer has been fired after getting drunk and breaking into a neighbor’s home, officials said.
Beverage giant Asahi Breweries has tapped Ryo Yoshizawa – described by one fashion magazine as having a “national treasure-class hottie” – for an ad for its 3.5 percent Super Dry Dry Crystal beer.
But the 30-year-old, one of Japan’s most popular actors, returned home on December 30, possibly after drinking something stronger.
Yoshizawa was “drunk” and “accidentally walked into the room next to his,” his talent agency Have fun he said in a statement on Monday.
“I lost my memories. I think I just went in without asking, because I wanted to use the toilet,” Yoshizawa told police, according to local media.
“We have decided to terminate our contract” with Yoshizawa, Asahi Group Holdings spokesman Shiori Shimizu told AFP on Tuesday.

“As a liquor company, we find his actions unacceptable,” Shimizu said. “We will no longer use him in our future advertising.”
Yoshizawa apologized to his surprised neighbor for “the big trouble he caused,” Amuse said, adding that the actor had already left the apartment.
Yoshizawa has roughly 80 points, according to IMDB. Last year, the actor starred as
a young man with deaf parents in the drama “Life in Two Worlds”, Japan Times reported.His new movie “National Treasure” is scheduled to be released on June 6, 2025, according to his Instagram page.
According to Tokyo reporterYoshizawa’s agency issued a statement that said in part, “We would like to sincerely apologize [Yoshizawa’s] fans and related parties for the concern and inconvenience we have caused.”
As in other countries, alcohol consumption is on the decline in Japan, with a low percentage of i non-alcoholic beverages — and even abstinence — growing in popularity, especially among younger people.
