The heavyweight champion of Oleksandra Usyka has ordered WBO to start negotiations for the mandatory defense of the title against Joseph Parker.
Parker is a temporary champion WBO.
Usyk and Parker have 30 days to reach a mandatory defense agreement, otherwise, WBO will order the Purst Office Procedure.
Parker promoter said David Higgins Sky Sports: “We have no idea if this will happen next or not.
“But I can tell you that. I talked to Joseph today and would love to fight for the world title. He’ll fight anyone anywhere for the world title.
“That’s his goal, fighting for the world title. Joseph is waiting patiently, holding himself in shape, and if the opportunity comes to fight for the title, he would like to grab him.
“We would take it heartbeat.”
In a notification posted on the WBO website on Thursday morning, negotiations to fight for the USyk-Parker were ordered in e-mail promoters of appropriate fighters by the president of the organization and founder Luis Batista Salas.
“Keep in mind that the WBO World Cup Committee orders the start of the negotiations between the mandatory championship of the WBO Division of the heavyweight category,” the order said.
“Given this order, the temporary WBO championship will accelerate in accordance with our institutional policy of only one world champion by weight.
“The parties have 30 days to achieve the conditions. If you do not do so, it will result in this Committee that orders the Purse Offer Procedure in accordance with WBO -Au competitions of the World Cup.”
