NFL: Las Vegas Raiders fire head coach Antonio Pierce after 4-13 season | NFL news
The Las Vegas Raiders fired head coach Antonio Pierce after a 4-13 season.
Pierce was fired after his first full season on the job, having taken over as an interim in 2023.
The Raiders went 2-2 to start the campaign, but then lost 10 straight before beating the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints.
They hold the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Pierce’s firing is the first change at the helm of Las Vegas since the arrival of Tom Brady as a minority owner.
The team’s statement read: “We appreciate Antonio’s leadership, first as interim head coach and this past season as head coach.
“Antonio grew up a Raiders fan and his silver and black roots run deep. We are grateful for his ability to bring awareness to what it means to be a Raider throughout the organization.
“We wish only the best for Antonio and his family in the future.”
Pierce went 5-4 in 2023 after taking over since midseason.
The Raiders have endured plenty of injuries in 2024, including defensive linemen Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins, while also dealing with the drama of Davante Adams’ trade to the New York Jets.
Mike Vrabel was rumored to be a possible replacement for Pierce because he and Brady were teammates on the New England Patriots.
