The former Indian international Ajinkya Rahane replaced Shreyas Iyer as Captain Knight Riders in Kolkuta in the upcoming IPL.
Knight Riders (KKR) champion (KKR) champion has appointed a veteran first order of Ajinkya Rahane for his captain for this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 36-year-old fills the void created by the departure of Shreyas Iyer, who will captain Punjab Kings after Kkr published it.
Rahhane’s deputy will be his-lucrative venkatesh iyer, the triple champions said in a statement on Monday.
“We are delighted to have someone like Ajinkya Rahane, who brings his experience and maturity as a leader,” said KKR Executive Director Venky Mysore.
“Also, Venkatesh Iyer was a franchise player for KKR and brings a lot of guidance. We are convinced that they will combine well as we start the defense of our title.”
Rahane, a fertile scorer in a home crown, brought Rahana India to the unforgettable victory of the test series in Australia in 2020-21.
“It is an honor to ask to lead KKR, which is one of the most successful franchises in IPL,” Rahane said.
“I think we have an excellent and balanced team. I am looking forward to what I will work with everyone and approach the challenge of the defense of our title.”
Delhi Capitals remain the only IPL team that still named the captain after publishing Rishabh Pant, who will skip the Lucknow Super Giants.
Kolkat will host Royal Challengers Bengalur on March 2nd in the first match of this year’s IPL.
Rahane made his debut in India at T20 International against England in 2011, and is the last international appearance in the West India’s test tour 2023.
