La Liga has officially rejected Barcelona’s request to re-register Dani Olmo

La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have officially rejected Barcelona’s request to re-register both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to their squad for the rest of the season.

The pair’s initial registrations expired on December 31 and Barcelona failed to raise the necessary funds to re-register Olmo and Victor before the deadline. League rules state teams cannot register players after their initial terms have expired.

Despite what it seemed great optimism from Barcelona about finding a way around the ruling, La Liga has now officially ended the club’s hopes of getting renewed licenses for Olmo and Victor.

“Following FCB’s compliance with LALIGA’s financial control requirements on January 3, 2025 and the Club’s completion of relevant documentation, LALIGA’s budget review body has decided to extend FCB’s expenditure limit for a sports team from the above date”, the statement began.

“In this regard, after the licenses for referred players were requested by FC Barcelonaafter analyzing the current regulations of the federation, the Monitoring Committee agrees that it will not approve the previous visa, nor the final license requested by FC Barcelona for the players Mr. Daniel Olm Carvajal and Mr. Pau Victor Delgado in accordance with the literal interpretation of Articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the RFEF General Regulations which prevent a player whose license has been revoked from obtaining a license in the same club as the team to which he was already affiliated, during the same season.”

It means neither La Liga nor will the RFEF grant new registrations to Olmo and Victor, leaving Barcelona forced to try their luck in court once again.
