Big Tech’s move to Trump doesn’t mean the battle against the ‘awakened mind virus’ is over
The ongoing battle against the “Virus of the Awakened Mind” has not yet been “won” despite a flurry of executive orders from President Donald Trump and Big Tech’s shift to a new commander-in-chief, according to a prominent software company investor.
During an appearance on Wednesday at “The Will Cain Show,” Joe Lonsdale, who co-founded companies such as Palantir and OpenGov, said Trump’s move to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence was “the key to unlocking productivity growth” in the United States.
Trump presented a massive AI infrastructure project on the first full day of his second term. The joint investment between Softbank, OpenAI and Oracle will act as a significant private sector investment in the construction of data centers for artificial intelligence startups in the US
This announcement comes at a time when leaders of major technology companies have begun to establish new relationships with the newly elected president.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk received prime real estate at the inauguration.
Lonsdale said that while he doesn’t trust these tech titans as much as he can “throw at them,” he said people should wait to see if these industry leaders are willing to fight “bravely” against “bad ideas.”
WILL YOUR BUSINESS SURVIVE TRUMP’S GEN AI REVOLUTION?
“Look, these people live and float and exist within this virus-awakened mind-infected part of our society. There are some really bad ideas that we’re still at war with in our civilization. They’ve taken over our universities, they’ve taken over our tech companies,” he said.
Lonsdale said it will be interesting to see whether tech leaders continue to embrace Trump, who has signed a slew of executive orders against DEI and progress, as he works through his second term.

“Will he take sides or not? I don’t know, but we all have to be careful and we have to keep fighting this battle. This battle is not won yet,” he added.
