Billy Ray Cyrus Explains Trump’s Inauguration Ball Performance That Worried Fans

While Billy Ray Cyrus‘ performance at the Liberty Ball on Monday has sparked concern among fans, the music veteran says the accident is just part of “rock’n’roll”.

On Monday, the 63-year-old took the stage to sing hits like “Old Town Road” and “Achy Breaky Heart” in honor of the president Donald Trump inauguration, but Cyrus experienced some technical difficulties along the way.

“Checked? Anyone awake?” Cyrus, whose guitar seemed disjointed after a shaky performance Lil Nas X song, asked. “Do you want me to sing more or do you want me to just leave the stage?”

With the issue unresolved, Cyrus decided to sing “Achy Breaky Heart” a cappella while snapping his fingers and trying to engage with the crowd.

In a statement to People magazine on Tuesday, Cyrus said, “I would not pass up the honor of playing at this event whether my microphone, guitar or monitors were working or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me. I had ball at the Liberty Ball last night, and I’ve learned through all these years, when a producer says, ‘You’re going to entertain the people even if the equipment goes to hell, I was there for the people, and we had a blast. That’s called rock n ‘ roll!!!”
