Jason Roy involved in a horrific mid-field collision with Harmeet Singh in ILT20 2025.

Sharjah Warriorz batsman Jason Roy had a decent outing with the bat for his team in the match against Desert Vipers in ILT20 2025. The match between the two teams was played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Wednesday (January 22).

Jason Roy was his team’s lone warrior in the game against the Desert Vipers. The England cricket batsman came in as a super substitute for his team when the wickets remained shaky at the other end. He made sure there was a decent effort and gave his team something to fight for the ball.

During his innings, Jason Roy also had a nasty collision with his batting partner Harmeet Singh. It was during the 13th over of the innings, when on the 4th ball, the English batsman played Dan Lawrence’s back ball towards point. He quickly took the first ride, wanting to take the second.

However, during the second run, he had a nasty collision with Harmeet Singh as both the batsmen ran into each other. Both Jason Roy and Singh stood up quickly to walk back to the crease and then stopped.

Desert Vipers continued their golden form with the bat and ball in the ILT20

Coming into the game, Desert Vipers continued their golden form with the bat and ball in the ILT20. Sharjah Warriorz had a terrible outing with the bat. They continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were left reeling at 30 for five. Then super Sub Jason Roy (30*) played a fighting hand for the team despite wickets falling at the other end.

Jason Roy’s struggle with the bat took Sharjah Warriorz over 85 runs while they managed just 19 runs. For Desert Vipers, Mohammad Amir was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed four wickets.

In pursuit of the target, the Desert Vipers exerted an incredible effort. Fakhar Zaman (71*) scored a magical half-century and, along with Alex Hales (23*), added 95 runs together to take their team home. With this victory, they almost secured a place in the playoffs.

T20 cricket can be one-sided at times and we hope to rectify that in a few days – Tim Southee

Sharjah Warriorz captain Tim Southee spoke about the defeat, admitting it was not their best effort. But he hoped to turn things around in the next game. Speaking after the game, he explained:

“It always hurts them, when you’re six for 30 it’s always tough, but the beauty of this competition is we get a couple of days off, dust ourselves off and meet those guys again. T20 cricket can be one-sided sometimes and hopefully we can correct in a few days.

“When you have 90 on the board, you have to get early wickets, but a few dangerous shots and after that you are done.”
