BCCI’s strict policy enforced by CAB as Indian stars are banned from using personal vehicles
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has imposed restrictions on players’ personal travel to Kolkata, following strict instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Namely, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly confirmed that no special arrangements have been made for the individual travel of any player.
The board has imposed strict measures on the players after their series in Australia. They cut short family stays during overseas tours and limited personal filming during the series. India are scheduled to host England for a series of five T20Is and three ODIs, starting with the first T20I at the Eden Gardens on January 22.
BCCI issues 10-point diktat to state associations ahead of England series
The Indian Cricket Board has unveiled a 10-point policy document for the Indian men’s cricket team, as reported by PTI. This document has been distributed to the state associations hosting the upcoming India-England white ball series.
Among the directives is a rule requiring all players to travel together on the team bus, with no special travel arrangements for individuals. The board claims that the goal of these measures is to promote commitment and a strong work ethic.

Snehasish Ganguly has confirmed that the Cricket Association of Bengal adheres to the BCCI’s 10-point policy for the Indian cricket team. Speaking to PTI, he stated that no special travel arrangements were made for individual players during the team’s training session at Eden Gardens.
“In accordance with BCCI’s 10-point guidelines for players, the Cricket Association of Bengal has not arranged any special means of transmission [for individual players],” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI. “Only the team bus for the Indian team has been arranged. There will be no personal vehicles for the cricketers.
“We must follow guidelines that clearly state that all players are expected to travel with the team to and from games and training.”
The Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav for the T20I series, will travel to Chennai for the second match. All preparations for the team are being done in accordance with the updated BCCI guidelines, which will be implemented during the India-England series.
Players mandated to participate in domestic cricket when not on national duty
The BCCI has introduced new directives requiring players to travel with the team for training sessions and matches to promote team cohesion, discipline and a professional culture. Players are now mandated to participate in domestic cricket when not on national duty.
Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25. However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will miss out due to injuries.
BCCI chief Ajit Agarkar clarified that these rules are not meant as punishment but are standard practice aimed at fostering unity and development at all levels of cricket.
