Cameron Diaz explains 10-year hiatus from Hollywood as she returns to the spotlight
Cameron Diaz she didn’t think she’d ever make a movie again, until Jamie Foxx called.
Diaz revealed that she spent the last 10 years out of the spotlight before returning to acting with Foxx’s “Back in Action.”
“I haven’t followed any training,” the 52-year-old actress said in a video shared by “I’m still watching Netflix.” “I didn’t do anything public. I said no to everything, except my wine.”
During her Hollywood hiatus, Diaz started her own wine company, Avaline.

“I didn’t think I was going to make another movie. I was perfectly happy, you know, just living my life doing other things.”
“That’s what I focused on the most,” Diaz explained, “if I was doing anything other than being a mom and living my life day by day.”
“Charlie’s Angels” star. revealed what prompted her to return to acting after decades out of the limelight. Diaz made 38 films in 20 years. She is known for her roles in the films “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “There’s Something About Mary”, “My Sister’s Keeper”, “Shrek”, “The Other Woman” and many other films.
“I didn’t think I would make another film,” she admitted. “I was perfectly happy, you know, just living my life doing other things. You know, like day to day, not movies. And then Jamie Foxx calls me. And how do you say no to Jamie Foxx when he says, ‘Hey, I have a big action comedy where we can have a lot of fun.’
“If there’s anyone I’m going to go back and spend months on end with, on set, having a ball, laughing, it would be Jamie.”
Diaz revealed in an October interview that nothing could change her mind about her decision to leave Hollywood. She quit acting in 2014 to focus on building a life with husband Benji Madden.
“It felt like the right thing to do to get my life back and I just didn’t care about anything else,” the actress said during an appearance at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, reports E! News.
“No one’s opinion, no one’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision to take care of myself and build the life I really wanted to have. I think it’s really about what you’re passionate about? me, that’s whether to build my family.”

The film “Back in Action”, which prompted Diaz’s return to acting, was delayed due to Foxx’s 2023 health scare and is now scheduled to be released on January 17th on Netflix.
Diaz appeared on the red carpet alongside Foxx on January 15 in Germany to promote the film.
She admitted she “couldn’t say no” to Foxx for what would eventually be their third project together after starring in “Annie” and “Any Given Sunday.”

However, the transition from being a mom to a Hollywood star wasn’t easy.
“We were in the house for a long time, which was amazing,” Diaz said at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, describing her time away from the industry.
“So I had to push myself. My husband, he’s just the best. He just said, ‘You supported us and built a family.’ And supporting him in his business, he said, ‘It’s time to support you and let mom go up and do her thing’.”
