New BBC Match of the Day presenters confirmed

Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan have been confirmed as the next hosts of the BBC’s Match Of The Day.

The trio will replace long-serving presenter Gary Lineker, who has hosted the main highlights program since 1999, while Alan Shearer and Micah Richards will continue in their roles as regular pundits.

“I know viewers will love these three incredible broadcasters and journalists at the heart of our football coverage next season,” BBC Sport director Alex Kay-Jelski said in a statement. “They’re brilliant at what they do and MOTD viewers can be sure they’ll be well looked after as big-time football topics are expertly analysed.

“Gary has done a phenomenal job on Match of the Day for the last 25 years, he will be sorely missed and we can all still enjoy him on our screens at some of football’s biggest tournaments.

“Beyond Match of the Day we have some great new shows, voices and surprises for the 2025-26 season in audio, video and digital formats and we look forward to sharing them with you all later in the year.

“This is a really exciting time for BBC Sport’s football coverage.”

Chapman, Cates and Logan will also share presenting duties for Sunday’s Match on Day 2 program as well as midweek Champions League highlights show.

Lineker’s departure is the second significant departure from the game of the day following Ian Wright’s decision to leave the program at the end of the 2023/24 season. Former Arsenal striker, who won Premier League title in the 1997/98 season, left 27 years after first appearing as a specialist while still an active player.
