Caroline Dubois texts Terri Harper: ‘Fight me. You’ll lose, but you’ll get a big show’ | Boxing news

Caroline Dubois set her sights on unifying the world titles and called for her next fight with Terri Harper.

Dubois holds the WBC lightweight world championship, while his rival British Harper is the winner of the WBO title.

“135 lbs is my weight class. I want to be undisputed by the end of the year. That’s the goal, that’s my goal and we’re going to make it happen,” Dubois told Sky Sports.

“Unification, challenging for the undisputed, challenging for all belts, challenging to make it happen. Anything that can make it happen as quickly as possible.”

Dubois didn’t quite get the birthday present she wanted on Saturday as she turned 24. She shot for a knockout victory over Jessica Camara.

She looked for a stoppage finish and exposed Camara to a relentless onslaught over the course of two rounds. But when a cut caused by an accidental headbutt prevented Camara from continuing, it meant the fight ended early in a technical draw.

Immediately afterwards, Dubois stated what she wanted: “Terri Harper. That’s what I want. Terri Harper—I want you!”

Dubois said Sky Sports: “We have a performance at the Royal Albert Hall coming up [on March 7]. It’s in London. Terri is from England, I’m from England. It’s a domestic showdown. It makes sense. I don’t see why not.

“Fight me, you’ll get beat, but you’ll have a great show, you’ll get paid well, you’ll pay off.”

Caroline Dubois is looking for a unification fight with Terri Harper in 2025 and was not impressed with her win over Rhiannon Dixon

Promoter Ben Shalom points out that Dubois has other options for the March 7 fight.

“The idea is that they’re going to fight at the ladies night and it’s going to be a big fight,” Shalom said Sky Sports.

“We want it to become undisputed in the division. We think we can make that happen this year.”

He believes Dubois’ next fight should be a unification. “Our focus is to win another belt. Obviously you have Terri Harper, you have Beatriz Ferreira [the IBF champion]and maybe you have Stephanie Han [for the vacant] WBA title,” said Shalom.

“You’ve got three of them on the list, Rhiannon Dixon is also on the list. It’s a great British fight. So she’s got options.”

Shalom expects Harper to fight at some point in 2025. “I think it’s going to come true this year. I think we’re going to see it this year,” he said.

Caroline Dubois says she doesn’t need a fight against Katie Taylor as she aims to leave her own legacy in boxing after being crowned the new WBC lightweight champion

“I think they’re open to it. It’s going to be expensive because nobody really wants to fight Carolina. I think she’s the toughest fight in the division for everybody and it’s a money fight for everybody.

“She’s created a lot of hype around her. She’s a big name, a lot of people see her as the next face of women’s boxing, and that means fighters want career high salaries to face Caroline Dubois.

“That’s what Terri Harper wants and I think that fight will happen this year.”
