Antony’s agent reveals Man Utd’s stance on the January transfer

Manchester United winger Antony’s agent has revealed the club have given no indication they want to part ways in January transfer window.

An £82m signing from Ajax in 2022, Antony has fallen short of expectations and lost his place in the squad under former manager Erik ten Hague, with current coach Ruben Amorim refusing to bring the Brazil international back into the starting line-up.

Consequently, reports claimed United have already decided to end cooperation with Antony when the winter transfer window opens.

While Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, confirmed that he had spoken to other clubs about a possible move in January, he revealed that United have shown no interest in a move.

“Yes, many clubs approached us about Antony’s move in January,” he said Fabrizio Romano. “These clubs wanted to understand the situation for Antony, so I can confirm that there is concrete interest.

“To be fair, Manchester United have never expressed any interest in selling or loaning Antony to us. We have never received this type of communication until now. We have never been told by the Man Utd board that they want Antony to leave, despite the reports we see around about our to the client.”

Pedroso, however, admitted that they would be willing to listen to United if the Red Devils proposed a January loan move away from Old Trafford.

“I can say that Antony’s future is very much linked to the interests of Manchester United,” the agent continued. “If the club feels it would be a good idea to loan Antony in January so he can get more minutes and regain his confidence, we will work on that option together.

“Otherwise, Antony is working hard to regain his place and show his best skills under new coach Ruben Amorim.”
